ABSTRACT
International Advanced Training Course on Intraoperative Electrophysiological Monitoring (3 months)

Project name:

International Advanced Training Course on Intraoperative Electrophysiological Monitoring (3 months)

Project Background:

With the increasing number of surgeries in neurosurgery, spine surgery, and other fields, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) has become a key technology to ensure the safety of patients' neurological functions. However, many countries around the world suffer from a severe shortage of electrophysiology technicians, and the level of intraoperative electrophysiological techniques varies greatly. To address this issue, this project aims to enhance participants' technical skills through training in the IONM and NeuGuard systems, combined with abundant domestic surgical cases and the expertise of senior technicians. The project will not only promote international collaboration and sharing of electrophysiology technologies but also ensure that technology knows no borders, fostering global technological exchange. Additionally, senior international electrophysiology technicians will share their clinical technical experience, making this project valuable for medical professionals worldwide, not just in developing countries

Project Objectives:

1. Enhance technical skills: Improve participants' ability to apply intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques, particularly in real surgical settings, through collaboration with domestic experts.

2. Remote guidance and on-site observation: Leverage the NeuGuard system, combining remote real-time guidance from senior technicians with on-site observation for junior technicians, ensuring effective transmission of technology and rapid skill improvement.

3. Increase hands-on experience: Provide participants with the opportunity to engage in numerous real-world surgical cases, enhancing their practical experience and ensuring they can independently perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

4. Strengthen international collaboration: Promote international collaboration and sharing of electrophysiology technologies, advancing global technical standards, and ensuring that "technology knows no borders."

5. Cultivate local technical teams: Train a group of professionals capable of independently conducting intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, providing expert support to the healthcare field locally and globally.

Project Content:

NCC Intraoperative Product Training: Introduction to the technical principles, application scenarios, and operational methods of NCC intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring products, helping technicians understand how to use these advanced devices for neural monitoring

NeuGuard System Monitoring Training: In-depth learning of the NeuGuard monitoring system's application during surgery, teaching participants how to operate, adjust, and interpret monitoring data to ensure stability and accuracy during complex surgeries. Using this system, participants can receive real-time guidance and feedback from senior technicians remotely.

Electrophysiological Diagnosis and Intraoperative Monitoring: Hands-on courses to help participants master intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques, including electromyography (EMG), evoked potentials (EP), and nerve conduction velocity (NCV). All operations will be analyzed using a wealth of real clinical cases to ensure participants gain solid practical skills.

Clinical Application and Case Discussions: Participants will engage in case discussions with well-known domestic experts, exploring the application of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring in different types of surgeries, enhancing clinical decision-making skills. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in domestic surgical cases and interact with experts through the remote system for timely feedback.

International Collaboration and Exchange: Through interactions with domestic and international experts, classroom lectures, and academic exchanges, participants will understand the latest developments and technological advancements in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, further strengthening international collaboration. The exchange of technologies will promote the global adoption and application of electrophysiology techniques.

Certification:

At the end of the program, each participant will receive the following certificates:

· Electrophysiology Technicians Association: A formal certificate confirming that the participant has mastered the techniques of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

· Hospital: A certificate from the hospital confirming participation and successful completion of the training program.

· NCC Medical: A certificate confirming that the participant is proficient in operating and applying the NCC intraoperative monitoring system.

These certificates will help participants gain recognition in the professional field, further enhancing their career development and technical expertise.

Project Duration:

3 months

· Weeks 1-2: Review of basic electrophysiological techniques and theoretical knowledge, introduction to NCC products and the NeuGuard monitoring system.

· Weeks 3-4: Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring equipment training, learning how to acquire, analyze, and process monitoring signals.

· Weeks 5-6: Clinical practice and simulated surgeries, performing electrophysiological diagnosis and intraoperative monitoring.

· Weeks 7-10: Participation in real surgical procedures, performing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring alongside domestic experts. Using the NeuGuard system for remote guidance and real-time feedback.

· Weeks 11-12: Case analysis and academic discussions, resolving challenges encountered in practice, followed by program evaluation and feedback.

Target Audience:

· Electrophysiology Technicians: Technicians with a basic understanding of electrophysiology, aiming to enhance their intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring skills, especially in real-world surgical applications.

· Neurosurgeons, Spine Surgeons: Clinical doctors interested in learning and applying intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques.

· Other Medical Professionals: Professionals from fields such as anesthesiology, rehabilitation, etc., who require electrophysiological monitoring in their practice.

Partner Hospitals:

· NCC / China TOP Teaching Hospitals: The organizing institution, providing advanced electrophysiological monitoring equipment and technical support, with extensive experience in teaching and clinical practice.

Expected Outcomes:

1. Enhance Electrophysiological Skills: Through professional training and equipment use, enhance participants’ abilities in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, particularly in real surgical applications.

2. Promote International Medical Collaboration: Through this international cooperation, elevate global medical standards, strengthen cooperation and exchange globally, ensuring technology knows no borders.

3. Cultivate Technical Expertise: Develop a group of technicians capable of independently conducting intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, improving intraoperative neural monitoring capabilities in their hospitals.

4. Promote Remote Guidance Technology: Leverage the NeuGuard system to provide remote real-time guidance from senior technicians, helping junior technicians improve their skills and offer technical support during local surgeries.

5. Certification and Recognition: Participants who complete the program will receive certificates from the Electrophysiology Technicians Association, the partner hospitals, and NCC, validating their mastery of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques.

Project Summary:
